SAM authorized person
Requirements
Canadian and foreign approved participants' employees must be approved as SAM Authorized Persons by the Regulatory Division of the Exchange before being authorized to trade on SAM (Montréal Automated System). Please contact the Regulatory Division directly to obtain the procedures to be followed for that purpose.
Employees of Canadian approved participants wishing to be approved as SAM Authorized Persons must submit their application by using the National Registration Database (NRD) "Registration Information for an Individual" form (Form 33-109F4) and the "Certification - Self Regulatory Organization" form prescribed by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). Since the Exchange does not have access to the NRD, this form must be filed in paper form.
In order to obtain SAM approval, employees of Canadian approved participants are required to register to the SAM course available through the Regulatory Division of the Montreal Exchange. This course consists of reading material only and there is no examination required to be written. However, applicants are required to complete and sign a certificate confirming that they have read the course material in full, that they understand it and that they obligates themselves to comply with all the Rules, Policies and procedures of the Exchange.
For what regards employees of foreign approved participants they must use the application form available at the link below. Although registration to the SAM course is not compulsory in their case, it is strongly recommended that they register in order to further familiarize themselves with various matters related to trading on the Exchange.
